Thank you to the Wildhorse Foundation for their generosity in three projects that will help us serve the animals that come into our care. These gifts reflect the commitment of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation to take a proactive, positive role in the well-being of our community. 5 Fall Foods to Share with Your Pet

Some foods just taste better from September through December! Here are five fall favorites that you can safely share with your four-legged family members:

Apples
Crisp, hydrating, and full of fiber, apples even provide natural dental benefits. Chewing them can help freshen breath—especially for teething pets.
Important: Remove all seeds, which contain a harmful cyanide-like compound.

Butternut Squash
Cooked squash is an excellent source of fiber and immune-boosting minerals for both cats and
dogs. Avoid serving it raw, as it can be difficult to chew and digest.

Cranberries
Unsweetened cranberries offer antioxidants and nutrients like vitamins A, B1, and C. These bite-
sized treats support immune health and help fight inflammation.

Pumpkin
Packed with fiber and beta carotene, pumpkin is a fall staple that’s perfectly safe for dogs and cats. Many veterinarians recommend unsweetened pumpkin to help picky eaters adjust to new foods.

Sweet Potatoes
A powerhouse of vitamins A and C plus calcium, cooked and unseasoned sweet potatoes make a nutritious addition to your pet’s meal. Do not serve raw sweet potatoes, which contain solanine—a compound that can cause digestive issues.
