Surrender Policy & Fees

Surrender Fees

  • Dog Surrender Fee: $75
  • Intact Dog Surrender Fee: $100
  • Cat Surrender Fee: $35
  • Intact Cat Surrender Fee: $50

It will be assumed that you are the legal owner of the animal you wish to surrender. You may be asked to provide proof of ownership.

You must be able to provide accurate information about the animal being surrendered,
including medical history, behavior, and any relevant documentation (e.g., vaccination records, microchip information).

You must agree to sign a surrender form and pay the surrender fee, relinquishing ownership of the animal to Blue Mountain Humane Association.
Blue Mountain Humane Association will not accept feral cats or obviously sick animals.

Owners must sign a surrender form provided by Blue Mountain Humane Association,
acknowledging the transfer of ownership and providing consent for any necessary medical
assessments or treatments.

Owners must schedule an appointment with Blue Mountain Humane Association for the
surrender of their animal. Walk-in surrenders are not allowed. An appointment must be made to surrender your animal.

Depending on available resources, space, and local market absorption rates, Blue
Mountain Humane Association will decide whether to accept the surrender of the animal.

In cases where Blue Mountain Humane Association cannot accept the surrender, alternative options and resources will be offered to the owner.

A surrender fee will be charged to cover the cost of caring for the surrendered cat(s), including medical assessments, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and housing. The surrender fee is per animal and is non-refundable.

The surrender fee may vary depending on factors such as the number of animals being
surrendered, their age, their medical condition, and market absorption rates.

Blue Mountain Humane Association reserves the right to waive or reduce the surrender fee
based on individual circumstances and need. Surrender fees are due and payable at time of
intake.

For inquiries or to schedule a surrender appointment, please contact Blue Mountain Humane Association at 541-963-0807 or staff@bmhumane.org.
By adhering to this policy, Blue Mountain Humane Association aims to facilitate the responsible surrender of animals while promoting their health, safety, and welfare.
